Paul Feig & Melissa McCarthy To Reteam Again On Spy Comedy 'Susan Cooper'

It seems Paul Feig and Melissa McCarthy just can’t get away from each other. Even since pairing up on the breakout, smash hit “Bridesmaids” they’ve continued to find ways to keep collaborating. Most recently, they teamed on the summer comedy hit “The Heat,” and while a sequel is in the works, Sandra Bullock has already distanced herself from it Kristen Wiig-style, wary of trying to duplicate the magic. No matter, because Feig and McCarthy already got something else brewing.

McCarthy has boarded “Susan Cooper,” a project that being’s developed as a potential franchise, just like everything else these days. First surfacing last month, it’s a “realistic” spy movie with overtones of James Bond, except the twist is that it’s driven by a woman, namely, McCarthy. Moreover, it’s inspired by “Casino Royale,” the first Daniel Craig Bond flick, which is apparently one of Feig’s “favorite” movies. Huh. Good concept we suppose, but we hope it has something fresh to say about the genre, because the spy comedy thing is kinda played.

Anyway, it’s not the only thing in the oven between Feig and McCarthy as they also have “Dumb Jock” somewhere in the works. Either way, doesn’t sound like this partnership will end anytime soon.
