You gotta wonder if Warner Bros. and Legendary are feeling a bit nervous about next year’s “Godzilla” after audiences were only mildly receptive to this summer’s monster movie smashup “Pacific Rim.” But there’s one thing that Guillermo del Toro‘s movie didn’t have that Gareth Edwards‘ upcoming flick does: brand recognition. Everyone around the world knows what Godzilla is and that alone could see people throwing their money at theater vendors to get catch a glimpse of the famed monster wreaking havoc one more time.
In advance of Comic-Con, a brand new illustrated teaser poster is here with the Godzilla built from the wreckage of various buildings. More disaster porn? We’ve kind of had enough of cities getting decimated so let’s hope the director of “Monsters” can make it a bit more artful. Meanwhile, Edwards has posted a little video tease for the faithful headed to San Diego, promising a something major from the “Godzilla” camp. What could it be? FREE UNDEROOS!!?!?!?! We’ll find out shortly.
But the reason we’re looking forward to this is the cast: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche and Sally Hawkins. Bonkers, right? “Godzilla” washes ashore on May 16, 2014. [IGN/Slashfilm]
