'Adult Life Skills' Trailer: 'Doctor Who' Star Jodie Whittaker Attempts To Grow Up & Stop Making Thumb Videos

Film fans have no doubt seen the premise of an adult living in their parents’ basement, unable to cope with the outside world and mature into a responsible human before. But this time, the story stars Jodie Whittaker, who makes little movies with her thumbs (yep, you read that right), and doesn’t live in her mom’s basement, instead choosing a shed in the backyard, in the film “Adult Life Skills.”

In the trailer for the film, we meet Anna, an adult living in her mom’s shed that is desperately trying to avoid life after the death of her brother. Then, when volunteering at the local school, she meets a young boy dressed up as Clint Eastwood, coincidentally enough named Clint, and her whole life changes. Will she grow up and accept life as an adult? Will she start a functional relationship with a partner? And can she be there for Clint after tragedy strikes his family?

As mentioned, the film stars Jodie Whittaker, who is best known nowadays as the 13th Doctor in “Doctor Who.” Before that, however, the actress appeared in the criminally underrated film “Attack the Block” and the sci-fi hit anthology series “Black Mirror.” “Adult Life Skills” is directed by Rachel Tunnard, who makes her feature film debut as writer-director on this project.

“Adult Life Skills” will hit select theaters and On Demand on January 18, 2019.

Here’s the synopsis:

Anna (Jodie Whittaker) is comfortable living in her mom’s garden shed making funny videos all day, but as she approaches 30, she starts feeling the pressure to move on and “grow up” without compromising her youthful spirit.
