If you know anything about the young steamy novel “After,” then you might know about its unique origins. In this era where anything you want can be created online, many new writers are gaining recognition for their work that would’ve never seen the light of day before, especially fanfic writers. If you’ll remember (how can many of us forget), the popular erotic novel series “Fifty Shades of Grey” by E.L. James originally started online as “Twilight” fanfiction, and it’s not the only one. Yes, the bestselling “After” originally started as a fanfiction written by Anna Todd on the app Wattpad. Harry Styles fanfiction, to be precise. But with a little revamping and original characters added in, the series was soon published and became a New York Times bestseller.

Anna Todd will be staying on as a producer for the movie adaption of “After,” and Jenny Gage will be directing. Newcomer Josephine Langford will be taking on the main role of Tessa Young, a dedicated college student charmed by bad boy Hardin Scott, played by Hero Fiennes-Tiffin. You might recognize Fiennes-Tiffin from his role as young Tom Riddle in the “Harry Potter” films, where his uncle Ralph Fiennes played Voldemort himself.

The movie will be distributed by Aviron Pictures and is out April 12, 2019. Watch the new trailer here:
