With "30 Rock" getting picked up by NBC for one last, shortened, 13-episode season, it looks like Alec Baldwin is going to have a bit more time on his hands. The actor is starting to fill up his calendar and is calling on a couple of recent pals to help him do so.
First up, it looks like Baldwin and Woody Allen got along just fine on the set of "To Rome With Love," as he's re-teaming with the helmer for his untitled next picture. As usual, not much in the way of plot details at this point, but Baldwin joins the recently added Sally Hawkins in the movie that also has Cate Blanchett and Bradley Cooper circling roles. Shooting is slated to take place this summer in San Francisco and New York.
And it seems Baldwin likes the anarchic comic spirit of Russell Brand who he co-stars with in the upcoming "Rock Of Ages." The pair are now set to lead "Man That Rocks The Cradle," which frankly sounds just as fucking terrible as any non-Apatow movie Brand has decided to make in the past little while. The story will center on an overworked husband and father who hires a supernanny/kid whisperer to help out, only it turns out….he's a man! And probably Russell Brand. So yeah, basically "Mrs. Doubtfire" all over again to some degree, but minus the divorce and cross-dressing. Whatever. New Line is finding a director and getting writers to pen a new draft, but unless they change the premise entirely, we'll just go ahead and give this a D and save ourselves the trouble. And in case you care, Brand is also hosting the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on June 3rd. [Deadline]
