Got a Tip?

Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner Return To Write ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’

While fans long for studios to take bolder risks with comic properties — R-rated Batman! Gritty Daredevil! — the bottom line is, as long as these franchises need to answer to shareholders, and make big profits, they have to play within the parameters of mainstream entertainment. Which easily explains this next bit of news…

Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner, who have their stamp on the forthcoming “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” have been re-upped to write “The Amazing Spider-Man 3.” The thinking here is clearly, if it ain’t broke, why fix it? Of course, Kurtzman/Orci are a writing/producing powerhouse with their stamp on two major franchises already: “Transformers” and “Star Trek.” Meanwhile, Pinker has worked on Kurtzman/Orci projects like “Fringe,” “Alias” and more and clearly the three are a well-oiled machine.

Considering the franchise is already scheduled to branch into four movies with the death of Gwen Stacy and the Sinister Six all rumored to come into play, it probably helps to keep the same guys involved at the script level.

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” arrives on May 2, 2014 with “The Amazing Spider-Man 3” dropping June 10, 2016. [THR]
