'American Horror Story: Apocalypse' Teaser: Bombs, Skulls, & Gas Masks, Oh My!

Every year the same cycle happens surrounding Ryan Murphy’s hit anthology series “American Horror Story.” During the summer, the fans start speculating the title of the next season, which then leads to further speculation of the plot. Then towards the end of the summer, FX will release a cryptic teaser meant to just fuel speculation even further. Then finally, we get the premiere episode and more times than not, it’s not anything close to what everyone expected.

And now, we’re in the teaser section of the cycle, as FX has just released the first trailer for their upcoming “American Horror Story: Apocalypse.” And as you might surmise from the title of the season, the teaser features a plethora of end-of-the-world imagery, including a mushroom cloud, gas masks, cults, and plenty of skulls.

All that being said, the teaser doesn’t give away anything about the plot of the season. What we do know, however, is that ‘Apocalypse’ is said to be a bit of a mash-up of season 1, aka ‘Murder House,’ and season 3, aka ‘Coven.’ We also know that actress Jessica Lange is said to return and the season may or may not feature a plot surrounding the Anti-Christ. Of course, with all the doomsday imagery, that definitely makes sense.

At a recent TCA event, executive producer Alexis Martin Woodall described the season by saying (via Variety), “The story begins with the end of the world, and then our world begins” she said.

‘Apocalypse’ will star Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Joan Collins, Emma Roberts, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman, and Billie Lourd.

“American Horror Story: Apocalypse” will premiere on FX on September 12.
