Amy Adams To Team Up With Jake Gyllenhaal For The Upcoming Film, 'Finding The Mother Tree'

Honestly, it’s hard to think of two actors working today with the same sort of pedigree and talent as Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams. So, when you consider that they’re both set to produce a new film together, with Adams in the lead role, you have to assume it’s going to be solid, right? Well, that’s what’s happening with the upcoming film, “Finding the Mother Tree.”

According to Variety, Amy Adams and her Bond Group Entertainment are teaming with Gyllenhaal and his Nine Stories company to land the film rights for the book, “Finding the Mother Tree,” by author Suzanne Simard. “Finding the Mother Tree” is a memoir from Simard that follows her scientific research into the idea that fungi are used by plant life all over the world for communication. The film is said to be seen as a starring vehicle for Adams, in the role of Simard.

In a statement, Amy Adams and her producing partner, Stacy O’Neil, said the book “excited us with a narrative about the awe-invoking power of nature and the compelling parallels in Suzanne’s personal life. It forever transformed our views of the world and the interconnectivity of our environment. ‘Finding the Mother Tree’ is not only a deeply beautiful memoir about one woman’s impactful life, it’s also a call to action to protect, understand and connect with the natural world.”

Gyllenhaal and his producing partner, Riva Marker, added that the project is “part charming memoir, part crash course in forest ecology. And yet, it manages to be about the things that matter most: the ways we care for each other, fail each other and listen to each other. After the last year and a half, its lessons about motherhood, connection and the natural world are more timely than ever, and we are thrilled to partner with Amy, Stacy and their company, and Suzanne Simard to adapt this majestic story to film.”

Obviously, it’s far too early to know what studio might pick up the distribution rights to the film or when it might actually go in front of cameras, but with Adams and Gyllenhaal combining forces, “Finding the Mother Tree” is instantly a film worth keeping an eye on.
