Anne Hathaway & Tim Robbins Join Mark Ruffalo In Todd Haynes' Upcoming Drama

We’ve already had our eyes on the upcoming untitled Todd Haynes film starring Mark Ruffalo. Considering the pedigree of both of those men, it would be silly to sleep on the plot, no matter what the plot of the film is. However, with the most recent news, the untitled film is not only one of our most anticipated of the year (unless it gets pushed to 2020), but it’s also got a hell of a story to back it up.

Participant Media just announced that Mark Ruffalo will act opposite Academy Award winners, Anne Hathaway and Tim Robbins, in the upcoming film. The untitled film is said to center around the true story of an environmental lawyer (Ruffalo) who brings a suit against the famous Dupont corporation that exposed a massive history of chemical pollution.

Hathaway, of course, is the winner of an Oscar for her work on the musical “Les Misérables.” She was also nominated for an Oscar for her work in the indie film “Rachel Getting Married.” Other than those films, the actress has starred in dozens of major projects, including the recent “Ocean’s 8” and the upcoming “Serenity,” starring Matthew McConaughey.

Robbins is also a major star with an Oscar under his belt, thanks to his role in the thriller “Mystic River.” He has one other Oscar nomination in his career, stemming from his role in the legal thriller “Dead Man Walking.” Robbins is also the star of numerous major films, including “Bull Durham,” “Jacob’s Ladder,” “The Player,” and “Bob Roberts.”

Joining Hathaway and Robbins in the newly revealed cast are Bill Camp, Victor Garber, Mare Winningham, William Jackson Harper, and Bill Pullman.

The film is given the following synopsis:

Inspired by a true story, the untitled film centers around Bilott, played by Ruffalo, whose environmental suit against Dupont would expose a decades-long history of chemical pollution. Participant also has optioned the life rights of Bilott.

Interestingly enough, the real Robert Bilott, who is played by Ruffalo in the film, will actually serve as a consultant on the film, giving the project a bit of street cred.

There’s no release date set for the untitled film, but production is expected to commence in Cincinnati next week.
