Casting: Jonah Hill & Miles Teller Gear Up For Todd Phillips' 'Arms And The Dudes' And More

Jonah Hill Miles TellerJonah Hill was doing table reads for it ages ago, but a couple of months back it looked like Shia LaBeouf and Jesse Eisenberg were being prepped for the leads of Todd Phillips‘ "Arms And The Dudes." Well, things have circled back to Hill who is now attached to star, with Miles Teller being offered the co-starring role in the film.

Based on Guy Lawson‘s Rolling Stone article "Arms And The Dudes" (read it here), the true story follows 25-year-old David Packouz and 21-year-old Efraim Diveroli, who scored a $300 million Pentagon contract to arm allies in Afghanistan, taking them on a journey through the absurd and political world of international arms trafficking that would end up with the duo being busted for fraud. Paul Dano, Rebecca Hall, and Helena Bonham Carter have taken roles in Steve McQueen‘s HBO pilot "Codes Of Conduct." Led by Devon Terrell, the show will follow "Beverly Snow, a young man from Queens as talented as he is ambiguous. His self-confidence will enable him to break into the social circles of Manhattan’s elite, testing the boundaries of access and social mobility." McQueen co-wrote the pilot with Matthew Michael Caranahan and will direct it, with production kicking off next week. [Deadline/Variety]

A couple years backRidley Scott and writer Steve Zaillian picked up the remake rights to the 2003 BBC mock-doc drama "The Day Britain Stopped." Well, the project now has a director in Baltasar Kormakur ("2 Guns," "Contraband"). Now titled "Cascade," the film will center on "an oil tanker collision in the Persian Gulf [that] sets off an international crisis." Cate Blanchett is circling a role in the movie, which is now set up at Fox, and has a script from Kieran Fitzgerald ("The Homesman"). [THR]
