‘Challengers’: Josh O’Connor & Mike Faist Join Zendaya In New Tennis Drama From Luca Guadagnino

Recently, it was reported that Luca Guadagnino is putting together a cast for his latest film, titled “Challengers.” At the time, we learned the film was set to star Zendaya (of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Euphoria,” and Edgar Wright’s Super Bowl ad fame). But now, we also know a couple of the other folks who will be joining her in the production.

According to Variety, Josh O’Connor and “West Side Story” star Mike Faist are set to star opposite Zendaya in the new film, “Challengers.” The film is expected to follow the story of a tennis-star-turned-coach, Tashi (Zendaya), who is coaching her husband, Art (Faist) to great success. However, after a losing streak, Art has to enter a new “Challenger” tournament against lower-level competition, where he has to face Patrick (O’Connor), Tashi’s former boyfriend and best friend. As you might imagine, the drama certainly ramps up from there.

As mentioned, Faist is probably best known for his scene-stealing role in Stephen Spielberg’s Oscar-nominated musical remake, “West Side Story.” He also recently had a big role in the Amazon series, “Panic.” O’Connor is known for his portrayal of a young Prince Charles in “The Crown,” which earned him Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. His most recent films include “Emma” and “Mothering Sunday.”
