Claire Foy To Star In 1930s Thriller 'Dust'

A couple of years ago, Claire Foy was poised to become yet another major A-list actor with three big-time projects being released in the span of one year. Coming off her Emmy-winning turn as Queen Elizabeth in “The Crown,” Foy was seen in films, “Unsane,” “First Man,” and “The Girl in the Spider’s Web.” While the first two films were well-received and her acting was lauded, it’s ‘Spider’s Web’ that seemingly derailed her upward trajectory. However, that latter film’s disappointment doesn’t take away from the fact that Foy is one of the best actresses in film today and is always a welcome presence on the big screen.

And according to Deadline, the actress has another exciting project on the horizon with the upcoming film, “Dust.” The film stars Foy as a mother that finds herself trapped with her family during a series of dust storms in 1930s Oklahoma. She begins to worry about a mysterious presence that is perhaps hunting her family, and the mother must do whatever it takes to protect them.

“Dust” is directed by Will Joines and Karrie Crouse, with the latter writing the script as part of the Sundance Writer’s Lab. The duo previously worked on short films together and Crouse has also written episodes of HBO’s massively popular TV series, “Westworld.”

In addition to the films mentioned above, Foy has also starred in the film “Breathe,” as well as the TV series “Wolf Hall.” Her next feature finds her starring opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in the film, “Louis Wain.”

It’s unclear when filming on “Dust” might begin, as the film is currently being shopped to distributors as part of the Cannes Virtual Market, which is going on now. However, with Foy attached, it’s likely that there will be plenty of studios interested in picking up the film.
