Courtney Hunt To Follow 'Frozen River' With A Remake Of French Film 'Ressources Humaines'

“Frozen River” writer and director Courtney Hunt is set to follow her hugely indie-successful debut film with a remake of Laurent Cantet’s 1999 French film, “Ressources Humaines.”

Hunt is currently penning the remake, presumably titled “Human Resources,” which will center on a young man who returns to his home town — with the original’s French setting moved to contemporary America — to take up a management position at a local factory, only to be asked to make personnel changes which force him to examine what it means to be in management. Sounds right up Hunt’s alley.

The project is being set up at Focus Features and is produced by WAM Films’ Stephanie Danan and Alain Chabat (the hilarious uncle character of “The Science of Sleep” who stole most of that movie). And after Melissa Leo’s extraordinary award-season run for “Frozen River,” Hunt should have a healthy batch of young actors lining up for the lead role.
