Dave Bautista Scoffs At 'Fast & Furious' Film Suggestion & Says He'd Rather Make "Good Films"

Are the “Fast & Furious” films actually good? That’s a question that can be debated for hours. You see, the cinephile in you wants to say, “Absolutely not! Those are garbage!” The movie fan in you will counter that with, “But they’re fun as hell and are more enjoyable than 90% of everything else out there.” So, the term “good” doesn’t really apply but isn’t necessarily wrong, either. However, if you’re Dave Bautista, you know the answer to this question and he’s most definitely in the former camp.

Bautista weighed in with his “Fast & Furious” thoughts when a fan brought up the idea of the actor starring opposite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and recent ‘F&F’ addition John Cena in a new spin-off. A harmless enough suggestion, one would think, especially considering the trio’s WWE background. However, Bautista was quick to squash those rumors while also throwing major shade at the entire ‘Fast’ franchise.

“????…..thank you for your consideration…???? #idratherdogoodfilms,” tweeted the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star.

He could have said, “Thanks but no thanks.” Or even just not replied in the first place. But make no mistake, Bautista is not going to sit idly by and let you dare besmirch his good name with the fan-casting in a “Fast & Furious” film, let alone a spin-off.

These are strong words coming from a guy that has probably starred in one or two films he’d probably not want to go up against “Fast & Furious” in a court of law. Just recently, for example, he’s the co-star alongside Sylvester Stallone in the third ‘Escape Plan’ film. Not exactly auteur cinema, by any stretch. Let’s not even talk about “Final Score” or “Bushwick.” We’re not saying those films are bad, per se. Just that “Fast & Furious” is at least on par with those productions.

But hey, if you show up in “Blade Runner 2049” and several Marvel Studios films, you can see why Bautista is a bit picky.

His next cinematic accomplishment, “Stuber,” is set to arrive in theaters on July 12.
