'Deadpool 2' Reportedly Cut One Of Its Too-Controversial Post-Credits Scenes

The character Wade Wilson has never been one to hold back from crossing verbal lines and physical boundaries. The Merc with a Mouth made a triumphantly violent and crass leap to the big screen with 2016’s “Deadpool,” redeeming Ryan Reynolds after the critical disaster that was “X: Men Origins: Wolverine.” However, in “Deadpool 2,” there was apparently one scene that even the Regenerating Degenerate may have taken too far. In particular, a post-credits scene involving time-travel, murder, and baby Hitler. Evidently, it made some people uncomfortable during the test screenings of the film, and, subsequently, had to be cut.

According to Games Radar, Deadpool is seen in a newborn ward standing next to a crib with a name tag that says “A. Hitler.” He contemplates killing the young Hitler, going back and forth on his decision. As another baby cries, he says, “Shut up Ira; you’ll thank me someday!” Eventually, he decides to do the deed, and the camera switches to baby Hitler’s POV as Deadpool strangles him.

Man, that’s dark, and given that description, it’s no wonder the alleged scene wasn’t included. It’s unclear if the scene was even shot. In total, “Deadpool 2” had four post-credits scenes, coming in second to “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” for superhero films, but we won’t get into them until the movie has been released properly.

Meanwhile, it’s no secret that Reynolds wants his friend Hugh Jackman to return to the iconic character once again for a Deadpool/Wolverine team-up. When asked about it on Good Morning America, Jackman said, “I might just have a little message for Ryan. I love you, man. I love Deadpool. I can’t wait to see the movie. You’re one of my best friends. Blake [Lively], the fam, the whole thing. But back it up a little. Play a little hard to get. It’s too much. It’s not sexy.”

Well, at least that isn’t an explicit “no” from Jackman, but it’s still unlikely to happen.  And as for those wishing to see the scrapped post-credits scene too controversial for the theatrical release, could it show up as an extra on the Blu-Ray? Doubtful, but until then, “Deadpool 2” comes out on May 18.
