'Disenchantment' Trailer: 'Simpsons' And 'Futurama' Creator Takes On A Crumbling Medieval Kingdom

As we reported recently, Netflix is the streaming powerhouse. This is especially true when it comes to original content, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that creators are flocking to the platform. One creator who has teamed up with Netflix is the great Matt Groening.

Art thou ready for this?!

Groening, who is behind some of the best adult animated series of all time, “The Simpsons” and “Futurama,” is bringing you a new show for the first time in 20 years. The Netflix series, “Disenchantment,” takes place in the crumbling medieval kingdom named Dreamland and centers on the exploits of a hard-drinking princess named Bean (Abbi Jacobson), her plucky elf friend Elfo (Nat Faxon), and her personal demon Luci (Eric Andre). Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.

“Disenchantment” has a slightly different spin than what we’ve seen from Groening before but much like when “Futurama” was first released and it was different than “The Simpsons,” I’m sure we won’t be disappointed.

Alongside Jacobson, Faxon, and Andre will be the talented voices of John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery.  With the animation is being done by Rough Draft Studios (Futurama).

The 10 episode series will be launching on Netflix, August 17.
