Disney is at it again, shuffling its upcoming release date calendar. And this time, it looks like there’s not a specific reason for the delays, but it does appear the entirety of the upcoming Marvel Studios lineup is getting shifted yet again.
We are mere days away from the release of the latest MCU film, “Eternals,” and soon after that, in December, Marvel Studios is releasing “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” Originally, that would lead into a 2022 MCU slate that would kick off in March with “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” Well, that’s all changing, as the ‘Doctor Strange’ sequel is now shifting its release by two months to May 6, 2022. And as you might expect, this caused a domino effect that forces each subsequent Marvel Studios film to find a new date.
“Thor: Love and Thunder” is now taking July 8, 2022 from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” which itself is moving to November. That means, “The Marvels” is pushed out of 2022 altogether and will now kick off Marvel’s slate in February 2023. And so on and so forth. But it wasn’t just Marvel titles getting shifted.
The other major delay is quite a significant one, with the untitled “Indiana Jones 5” moving from July 29, 2022 and out of 2022 completely. Now, the highly-anticipated sequel won’t hit theaters until nearly a year later, on June 30, 2023. At the time of that release, Harrison Ford will be preparing for his 81st birthday.
