‘Falcon & Winter Solider’ Mid-Season Trailer: Sam & Bucky Prepare For The Final Fight For The Shield

Spoilers for the first four episodes of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”

Four episodes in, and it’s clear that “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is building to one hell of a fight between Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, Bucky Barnes, aka Winter Soldier, and John Walker, aka the new Captain America. And that’s exactly what is teased in the new trailer for the final two episodes of the series.

As seen in the closing moments of last Friday’s episode, John Walker (Wyatt Russell) has finally gone too far in his new role as Captain America. Though the entire show has seemingly positioned him as a soldier that may or may not break bad, his killing of a Flag Smasher using the iconic shield as a tool for murder has officially put him on the wrong side of things. And now, with Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky (Sebastian Stan) knowing exactly what’s going on with Walker, it’s their mission to take back the shield and put an end to this ridiculous notion of him being the new Captain America.

And though it’s billed as a “mid-season” trailer, we’re really in the final act of Marvel Studios’ second Disney+ series. It’s already obvious “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is a completely different beast than Marvel’s previous series, “WandaVision.” But much like the films, the studio is showing that superhero TV series can be everything from world-traveling action thrillers to a family sitcom dealing with trauma and grief.

“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is expected to wrap up in the next two episodes, which clearly look like their own separate Marvel Studios film based on the way it’s been built up. After this season, there’s a bit of a gap to prepare folks for “Loki,” which once again, looks to be very different than both ‘Falcon’ and “WandaVision.”
