Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, Will Poulter & More Set To Star In 'Hereditary' Director's New Horror Film

Filmmaker Ari Aster is riding high, thanks to his directorial debut “Hereditary.” The horror film has been scaring audiences for months, collecting record-breaking box office totals, and earning early awards season buzz. And as film fans continue to discuss his most recent film, Aster is prepping his next feature, which is amassing quite the cast.

During the recent TCA presentation about her upcoming AMC series “The Little Drummer Girl” (via Variety) BAFTA Award nominee Florence Pugh announced that she is starring in Aster’s next horror film. Pugh is probably best known for her work in the film “Lady Macbeth,” but will soon star in the aforementioned ‘Drummer Girl’ from filmmaker Park Chan-wook. The actress also has a starring role in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming “Little Women” remake. But Pugh isn’t the only announcement for Aster’s film.

Collider is reporting that Jack Reynor and Will Poulter have also joined the upcoming thriller. Reynor has come a long way since his starring role in the absolutely terrible “Transformers: Age of Extinction.” Since then, he’s had great roles in the underrated “Sing Street” and “Free Fire.” Reynor can currently be seen starring in the CBS All Access series “Strange Angel.”

Poulter is definitely best known for his comedic turn in the film “We’re the Millers,” but has also been seen in the “Maze Runner” franchise. He’ll also have his turn in a horror-thriller later this year when he shows up in Lenny Abrahamson’s upcoming “The Little Stranger.” The report also says that actors Vilhelm Blomgren, William Jackson Harper, Ellora Torchia and Archie Madekwe will show up in Aster’s film, as well.

According to Collider’s report, Aster’s latest film follows a young couple (Pugh and Reynor) that get involved in a mid-summer festival in Sweden that turns out to be a violent and bizarre competition put together by a pagan cult. If you’ve seen “Hereditary,” you know just how well Aster would be able to handle material like this.

No word on a release date, but production is said to be currently underway.
