Got a Tip?

‘Glee’ Star Jane Lynch Joins Adam Scott & Richard Jenkins In Comedy ‘A.C.O.D.’

nullThere's something particularly satisfying about watching a hard-working, long-serving character actor finally getting their due. Which is why, for all the cultural monstrosities it has inflicted on us over the last few years, we'll never totally resent "Glee" — it continues, after all, provide a huge showcase for Jane Lynch, one of the most gifted comic scene-stealers of the last couple of decades.

We never stuck with the show long enough to know whether Lynch was wasted on the series, but it's undoubtedly raised her profile (including her Emmy-hosting gig last year), and she's managed to squeeze in big-screen projects like "Paul" and the upcoming "Three Stooges" in between her schedule as Sue Sylvester. And now, she's joining forces with two other comic secret weapons for a comedy that couldn't sound more promising, with Screen Daily reporting that Lynch has joined "Parks and Recreation" star Adam Scott, and Oscar-nominee Richard Jenkins, in the upcoming "A.C.O.D."

Scott, who co-starred with Lynch on "Party Down," plays Carter, a man scarred by his parents' divorce, who's forced to reunite them when his brother gets engaged. Jenkins plays Scott's father, while Lynch will play Dr. Judith, an author and therapist who used to treat Carter, who comes back to her for advice. "Lights Out" writer Stuart Zicherman is directing from a script he co-wrote with Ben Karlin ("The Daily Show," "Modern Family"), so the comedy credentials extend beyond the cast, while Teddy Schwarzman (Ramin Bahrani's latest and the upcoming "Broken City" with Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe) is producing and financing. Filming should get underway once Scott and Lynch are wrapped on their current TV seasons.
