Hugh Jackman Rages In 'Logan' VFX Reel

With Hugh Jackman‘s final outing as Wolverine in “Logan,” director James Mangold arguably showed what the future of mutant movies might look like. While we’ve had years of big, bloated, blockbuster superhero films, his picture stripped things down to the bare essentials, focused on character, but lost none of the compelling comic book ingredients. It was an R-rated risk, but one that paid off handsomely. Yet, for all the film’s gritty aesthetic and pivoting away from CGI setpieces, it still needed some considerable VFX assistance.

Rising Sun Pictures have dropped a reel highlight of their work on the movie, and it might surprise. Of course, you can’t put a fistfull of claws through someone’s head without a bit of digital help, but even backdrops were painted in with pixels. It’s a pretty cool look at the movie, and a reminder that sometimes the best movie magic is the stuff you’re not even aware of. [Dark Horizons]
