Jared Leto Is Lucky Enough To Have Never Watched 'Suicide Squad'

As DC Films continues to desperately try and change course toward a more successful future, it’s worth remembering that last year’s “Suicide Squad” was the nadir of the old way of thinking. Warner Bros. threw millions of dollars at reshoots, cut their own version of the movie, and then mashed up with David Ayer‘s vision. The result was a disaster. Don’t tell me about box office numbers, because that movie is nearly unwatchable. In fact, Jared Leto himself, the focus of so much of the movie’s press about his weirdo dedication to the role of The Joker and grossing out his castmates, hasn’t even bothered to see what his intensity spawned.

“No, I never did,” he told Syfy. “I just think with watching your own films, it can be too self-conscious of a process. You either like what you did and you’re prone to repeat it, or you didn’t like it, and it can make you self-conscious. I’m not sure how much win there is for me. But I read the scripts, so I know what’s going to happen.”

Yep, Leto leaves his work on set, which — well, that’s fair, lots of actors do the same. In fact, Leto hasn’t watched “Blade Runner 2049” yet, though he might “at some point.” Still, it seems a bit unfair that we had to endure “Suicide Squad,” when he didn’t. Though, he did live as The Joker for the duration of the shoot, so maybe that’s punishment enough.
