Jonah Hill To Star In The Safdies' ‘Uncut Gems’ Produced By Martin Scorsese

It’s been a pretty good day for sibling filmmakers Josh and Benny Safdie. This morning, the terrific trailer for their Cannes entry “Good Time” starring Robert Pattinson debuted, and on the Croisette, that gritty thriller won’t be the only project they’re talking about.

Jonah Hill has signed up to star in the Safdies’ next film, “Uncut Gems,” which will have some considerable muscle behind it from producers Scott Rudin and Martin Scorsese, and the distribution powers of A24. Penned by the writer/directors along with their regular collaborator Ronald Bronstein, the only story details available right now is that it takes place in the corrupt world of New York City’s diamond district, with Hill playing Howard Ratner.

No word yet on when filming might begin, but Hill’s schedule is quite busy at the moment, with both his directorial debut “Mid ’90s” and Cary Fukunaga‘s Netflix series “Maniac” with Emma Stone on the immediate horizon, so this could be a while off. But given the talent involved, “Uncut Gems” is one we’ll gladly be patient for. [Deadline]
