'Killing Eve' To End With Upcoming Season 4 But Studio Is "Exploring" Potential Spinoffs

There’s good news and bad news for fans of the award-winning BBC America series, “Killing Eve.” The good news is that the series is going to be entering production on Season 4, after a year-long pandemic delay, later this year. Unfortunately, the bad news is that this new season will be the series’ last.

According to Variety, “Killing Eve” is set to end its run with the upcoming fourth season of the Emmy-winning series. The series tells the story of an intelligence agent that becomes deeply entrenched in a cat and mouse game with a deadly assassin. “Killing Eve” stars Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, and Fiona Shaw.

“‘Killing Eve’ has been one of my greatest experiences and I look forward to diving back into Eve’s remarkable mind soon,” said Oh. “I’m so grateful for all cast and crew who have brought our story to life and to the fans who have joined us and will be back for our exciting and unpredictable fourth and final season.”

Comer added, “‘Killing Eve’ has been the most extraordinary journey and one that I will be forever grateful for. Thank you to all the fans who’ve supported us throughout and come along for the ride. Although all good things come to an end, it’s not over yet. We aim to make this one to remember!”

Much like the previous three seasons, “Killing Eve” Season 4 will find a new head writer taking over the story, as Laura Neal steps into the role. Previous head writers include Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emerald Fennell, and Suzanne Heathcote.

But if you’re a fan of the series, there is a bit of a silver lining to this news. According to Dan McDermott, president of original programming for AMC Networks, the studio is beginning to explore ideas for expanding the story into potential spinoffs.

“We could not be more thankful for the extraordinary talents and efforts of everyone involved, particularly Sandra and Jodie, who made ‘Killing Eve’ much more than a television show,” he said. “We look forward to what is sure to be an unforgettable final season and to exploring potential extensions of this compelling universe.”

Of course, “exploring potential extensions” is far from a guarantee for spinoffs, but with the popularity of the series, you better believe that BBC America and AMC Networks are going to do everything in their power to figure out a way to keep this universe alive.
