Larry David Endorses Woody Allen's New Book & Says "It's Hard" To Think The Director Did Anything Wrong

Larry David has made a career out of taking everyday occurrences and turning them into fodder for sitcoms. That may sound really easy and obvious, but many have tried and many have failed. In the case of David, he not only did it once, with the legendary series “Seinfeld,” but he’s already done it a second time, with his HBO hit, “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Needless to say, Larry David is your guy, if you’re looking for someone to give a funny take on a current event or situation. Well, unless you’re someone that thinks Woody Allen is a horrible person. Then you may not be happy with David’s observation.

Speaking to the New York Times, Larry David discussed quite a bit of topics, including the COVID-19 pandemic, Bernie Sanders, “Tiger King,” and yes, Woody Allen. The discussion of the controversial filmmaker came about when David was asked about his thoughts on the new Allen memoir, “Apropos of Nothing.” The ‘Curb’ mastermind gave his thoughts on the book, and in turn, apparently gave the filmmaker his support.

“Yeah, it’s pretty great, it’s a fantastic book, so funny,” David said. “You feel like you’re in the room with him and yeah, it’s just a great book and it’s hard to walk away after reading that book thinking that this guy did anything wrong.”

Obviously, the “did anything wrong” comment comes after years of Allen defending himself against allegations from Dylan Farrow, who claims that the director sexually assaulted her when she was a child. In the memoir, Allen continued his defense by discussing the events, as well as various other controversies.

As for other things that have been keeping him busy during this lockdown, David said he tried to watch Netflix’s “Tiger King” but had to turn it off.

“I found it so disturbing,” he explained. “The lions and the tigers just really scared the hell out of me. They were going to attack somebody. They were going to kill somebody. I didn’t want to see them attack and those people were just so insane, I couldn’t watch it.”

It appears that David isn’t interested in watching the docuseries for the exact same reasons why millions have been obsessed over it for the past two weeks. Either way, without seeing much of it at all, Larry David has probably given “Tiger King” one of the better endorsements the Netflix series will ever receive. If you haven’t watched it yet and you read those comments, obviously, you’re going to run to your closest streaming device and give it a look.
