Got a Tip?

Lena Dunham Says ‘Girls’ May End After Season 6

GirlsWhile it hasn’t quite turned into the Millennial version of "Sex & The City" that maybe some predicted, Lena Dunham‘s "Girls" has certainly marked itself as one of the more distinctive shows about the lives of young women to arrive in recent years. Blunt, funny, moving, and at times controversial, it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for the series that isn’t afraid to put an unlikeable, selfish character in the lead and double down on those qualities time and again. But all things must come to an end, and the conclusion of "Girls" could arrive with season six.

“Never say never, but that is the way that we’re thinking about it right now, and we’re starting to think about sort of how to wrap up the storylines of these particular young women,” the writer, actor, and creator of the show told Z100‘s "Elvis Duran and the Morning Show." “I started working on this show when I was 23, and now I’m going to be 30 so it kind of feels right that this show kind of sandwiched my 20s and then I go off into the world.”

All that said, season 6 is still quite some time away — season 5 arrives in January. And I’d presume part of that "never say never" consideration will involve just how much HBO wants to keep the show running. It may not be drawing in viewers on a "Game Of Thrones" level, but "Girls" is surely one of the network’s hallmark series. Thoughts? Is it time to say goodbye to Hannah Horvath? And if so, where do you want to see the character end up? Let us know in the comments section. [Huffington Post]
