Got a Tip?

Leonardo DiCaprio Reportedly Eyeing A Role In Adam McKay’s Film ‘Don’t Look Up’

If you were to make a list of the actors in Hollywood that are the most sought-after talents in the business, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone that would beat out Leonardo DiCaprio. Not only is he an Oscar-winning talent that is able to create a buzz about any project he’s in just by lending his name to it, he’s also incredibly picky. He doesn’t flood the market with performances, making each and every one something special. So, when it was recently revealed that production on his upcoming Martin Scorsese picture, “Killers of the Flower Moon,” ran into some budgetary problems, DiCaprio found himself with some very valuable time on his hands, which might benefit none other than Adam McKay.

In a new report from Variety, where the situation surrounding ‘Flower Moon’ was discussed, it was revealed that DiCaprio is looking to use his time between now and the time that Scorsese is ready to begin production by maybe shooting another film. And considering he only appears in about one film every couple of years, this is a big opportunity for another filmmaker to swoop in and land the coveted performer.

Reportedly, the filmmaker that is on DiCaprio’s shortlist is Adam McKay, who is in the middle of prepping production on his upcoming feature film, “Don’t Look Up.” The report claims that DiCaprio is seriously considering a role in that satire about two scientists that discover an asteroid is heading straight to Earth and go on a media tour to try to convince people that the end is near. It’s unclear what role DiCaprio would play in the film if he were to sign on, as the film is set to star Jennifer Lawrence and Cate Blanchett.

Clearly, adding DiCaprio to a cast that already includes Oscar-winning actresses is a huge thing for McKay. Of late, the filmmaker has turned into one of the most acclaimed directors working in Hollywood, with films such as “The Big Short” and most recently, “Vice.”

We’ll definitely keep an eye out to see if DiCaprio chooses to fit in “Don’t Look Up” into his future plans, but as of now, he’s definitely still attached to “Killers of the Flower Moon,” which just became a co-production of both Apple and Paramount.
