Marvel Reportedly Moving Ahead With 'The Inhumans,' Project Goes Out To Filmmakers

InhumansWith Marvel having established a slate of release dates through 2019, now the studio must decide what those movies will be. "The Avengers 3" and "Doctor Strange" seem inevitable, but there’s a handful of long developing projects that may yet see the light of day. Will "The Inhumans" be one of them?

The last we heard about the project was nearly a year ago, when it was rumored that the Lee-Kirby creation would be raw material for a tentpole, but that had been the case since at least 2011. However, today comes news that development for an Inhumans film might be further along than anyone knew.

Collider reports that Joe Robert Cole ("Amber Lake") has turned in an Inhumans script that  Marvel likes, and the studio is now seeking filmmakers. And much like "Guardians Of The Galaxy," the expectation is that whichever filmmaker selected will add their own spin on the material, in the same manner that James Gunn did, or Joss Whedon and "The Avengers". In short —Marvel isn’t messing with a lucrative formula.

If you’re not a Marvel Zombie, the Inhumans are a royal family presiding over a race of superhumans dwelling in a hidden city in the Himalayas, and have often teamed up with The Avengers (and Fantastic Four, but that property is at Fox). So maybe "The Avengers 3" will be a mega team up movie? One can dream….

So it would seem "The Inhumans" is inching along….any thoughts on who should direct?
