Michael Peña & Clifton Collins Jr. Eyed For Roles In Edgar Wright's 'Ant-Man'

Update 1/15: Latino Review reports that Clifton Collins Jr. (“Pacific Rim“) has also joined the film in an unspecified role. Update #2: Oops, just a couple hours later, and Slashfilm says CCJ isn’t in the movie.

While Marvel likes to keep a veil of secrecy over their projects, it seems they have a leaky faucet in their offices. Just after news broke last night that Johnny Depp was in loose discussions for “Doctor Strange,” now another actor is being linked to another big, upcoming project, with Marvel already denying the story.

But here we go anyway, as The Wrap reports that Michael Peña is being offered a role in “Ant-Man.” And that’s about it. There’s no word on what the potential part might be, if he’ll be another superhero or not, or anything else. But more Michael Peña is not a bad thing at all. He’s the kind of versatile character actor we love, so we’d be more than happy to see him in an Edgar Wright-directed comic book movie, playing alongside Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas (already this ensemble of talent sounds eclectic, in a good way).

Until Marvel makes it official, take it all with a grain of salt for now. But it seems things are starting to come together for this one which hits theaters on July 31, 2015.
