Mike Myers To Produce & Star In New Half-Hour Netflix Comedy Series Where He Will Play Multiple Characters

Believe it or not, audiences have been without a “Mike Myers wears funny makeup and puts on an accent” film for over a decade, specifically since 2008’s “The Love Guru.” But the less said about that film, the better. That being said, for a man that made a name for himself on ‘SNL’ and in his highly-successful film career utilizing his gift as a chameleon, it’s interesting that he has taken such a backseat in the last decade. Enter Netflix and its seemingly infinite bank account.

Netflix has just announced a deal with Mike Myers that would see the actor produce and star in a brand-new comedy series where he will play multiple characters. Basically, Netflix spent a bunch of money on Myers and is letting him do what he does best. The series is untitled and there’s no real description about what it might be about, but we do know that it will span six episodes with each being a tidy 30 minutes.

“I love creating characters, and Netflix has given me a fantastic playground to play in,” said Myers about the new series.

Now, even though Myers has been out of the limelight for the better part of a decade, that doesn’t mean he’s stopped working altogether. He’s been involved with documentaries, even directing one, and has appeared in recent films like “Terminal” (the Margot Robbie one, not the Tom Hanks one) and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glorified cameo (under makeup).

He’s also been on TV recently, donning makeup (naturally), hosting the revival of “The Gong Show.” However, you wouldn’t know it’s Myers, as he goes by his character’s name, Tommy Maitland.

Again, details are being kept under wraps, but it appears that Mike Myers is ready to go back to his roots and Netflix adds another star to its ever-growing roster of talent.
