'Never Rarely Sometimes Always' Trailer: The Award-Winning Drama Arrives In Theaters This Month

Abortion is never an easy topic to discuss. No matter if you’re someone that agrees with the idea that a woman has the right to choose what happens to her body or not, no one enjoys talking about a subject that is so emotionally deep and personal. But that’s exactly the topic that is shown in the upcoming film “Never Rarely Sometimes Always.”

As seen in the new trailer, writer-director Eliza Hittman has crafted a story that follows two teenage girls that have to cross state lines into New York City to help one of them make one of the most difficult choices a person can make. Again, no matter what your thoughts are on the matter, it’s clear that ‘Never Rarely’ is a film that doesn’t take the topic lightly and presents an honest, touching, heart-wrenching look at the struggles a teenage woman faces.

We saw the film when it played at this year’s Sundance, and in our review, we mentioned Hittman’s previous films, “Beach Rats” and “It Felt Like Love,” but ‘Never Rarely’ stands above them all: “The people in her movies always look like real people, and act like them too; there’s a real sense of observation in her aesthetic, and an abundance of scenes that feel so private, so personal, that we begin to feel as though we’re imposing by watching them at all. Those were both very good films, but this is her strongest work to date, patiently introducing its characters and conflicts, building up a full head of emotional steam so subtly, you don’t realize what she’s doing until it’s done.”

In addition to its Sundance debut, the film recently screened as part of the Berlin Film Festival. Hittman’s drama scored the prestigious Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at the event.
