Screw in your eyeballs, and take a sneak peek at some movies coming soon…. and not so soon…. to a theater to near you.
First up, we kind of forgot this movie was even happening, but back in December Robert Redford signed on to star in "Margin Call" director J.C. Chandor's man vs. nature tale "All Is Lost" and it seems it quietly went in front of cameras, with the film recently wrapping. No exact plot details, but Deadline says the movie will find Redford's character getting lost at sea and fighting the elements to stay alive. Simple, straightforward it seems, but we wonder if there is more to it than meets the eye here. At any rate, Redford will get very, very wet.
No release date yet, but we think it's a safe bet that both Chandor and Redford will want this one ready for Sundance in January.
Meanwhile, the Kristen Stewart/Rupert Sanders drama seems to have subsided for the moment, and by golly, Summit still have a movie to promote, so here's a new image from "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2" (man, we can't wait to stop typing that out). The image here sees new Mom and vampire hybrid Bella, giving her freaky deaky daughter Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy) some kind of locket that is important to the story in a way this writer is just too lazy to find out. Lastly, here's a new image from "Populaire"…..what the hell is "Populaire"? Well, way back in the spring, The Weinstein Company snapped up the rights to the French film after flipping through the script and watching 20 minutes of footage, but not much has been heard of it since. Well, with the movie gearing up to open overseas, a new image has emerged, and it promises a cinematic confection.
Starring Romain Duris ("Heartbreakers"), Deborah Francois and Berenice Bejo ("The Artist"), the highly stylized movie is said to have been made in the vein of classic comedies, with the story taking place in the 1950s and centering on a small-town woman whose typing abilities bring her to New York City to compete in a contest. So yes, a French take on American cinema once again…it's probably pretty easy to see why Harv wanted this one.
"Populaire" opens in France on November 28th, but there is no stateside date yet. But with The Weinsteins basically having their hands full until the end of year with "The Master," "Django Unchained" and "Silver Linings Playbook," our guess is that it will be 2013 before we see this one.
