Paramount Has Begun Development On A Third 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Film

With all the talk of big mergers affecting major studios like Warner Bros., Disney, Universal, and Fox, there’s a studio that often gets overlooked – Paramount. The studio has had a decent 2018, with the surprise hit “A Quiet Place” being their crown jewel, but it looks like the struggling brand is going to attempt to hit the big time again with another franchise they have control over.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Paramount is in the beginning stages of development on “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3.” After the nice hit for the first ‘TMNT’ reboot film in 2014, the series hit a speed bump in 2016, when “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows” failed to live up to expectations, and seemingly killed the series. Alas, the Turtles are alive and well, and under a new direction. Kind of.

‘TMNT 3’ will be written by Andrew Dodge, who is new to the series and best known for his work on the Jason Bateman comedy “Bad Words” and was involved in the long-in-development “Space Jam 2.” However, the series is sticking with the Michael Bay-led Platinum Dunes studio as producers of the film. That means that you can expect the third entry in the rebooted franchise to still stick to the same look and feel of the previous two, for better or worse.

The studio has struggled in recent years, and it needs all the help it can get. Perhaps the third time is a charm for the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ series. We shall see.
