Along with critics, filmmakers also like to get into the ranking of the year’s best movies. So far we’ve seen the likes of Quentin Tarantino and John Waters weigh in, and now another auteur has decided to put down his choices for the best 2013 had to offer, and as always, it’s a fascinating look at what connects with creative minds.
Pedro Almodovar dropped his list of his top 12 movies of the year, and it’s probably not a big shock he favors the arthouse. Landing at the top of the list is “The Act Of Killing,” with the already highly-acclaimed documentary earning yet another accolade. Ulrich Seidl got two slots for “Paradise: Faith” and “Paradise: Love,” two-thirds of his trilogy, while we’re really happy to see some love given to Jeff Nichols‘ “Mud” and Ursula Meier‘s “Sister.” Paolo Sorrentino gets a nod for “The Great Beauty” and so too does recent Brit Indie winner “Metro Manila.”
