Rashida Jones & Olivia Colman Feel The 'Cuban Fury'; Jackie Robinson Biopic '42' Adds John C. McGinley & More

nullOne of the biggest compliments one could give to the Apatow-era of comedy is the development of talent, often very young and unheralded, from all around the world. Take, for instance, the international ensemble for "Bridesmaids" which featured Americans (Melissa McCarthy, Ellie Kemper), Brits (Matt Lucas, Chris O'Dowd) and Australians (Rose Byrne, Rebel Wilson) side-by-side.

It's something we're seeing reflected in casts more regularly nowadays with Rashida Jones following the trend, heading to the U.K. to star in the dance-comedy "Cuban Fury" along with acclaimed "Tyrannosaur" star Olivia Colman. The two will star opposite Nick Frost and Chris O'Dowd for the tale of a down-on-his-luck man (Frost) who reignites his long-dormant passion for salsa dancing after falling for his gorgeous American boss (Jones). Based on an idea by Frost, lensing begins in seven weeks with Big Talk Film, Studiocanal and Film4 backing what will be the directorial debut of James Griffiths ("Up All Night," "Free Agents"). Best known as Dr. Perry Cox from NBC comedy "Scrubs" and of course as one of the two Bobs in "Office Space," John C. McGinley is a familiar face who has graced our screens for years in countless roles. The actor is now joining "42," the biopic of famed baseball legend Jackie Robinson, playing Red Barber, an iconic radio broadcaster for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Harrison Ford, Nicole Beharie and Ryan Merriman co-star with newcomer Chadwick Boseman in the lead while Brian Helgeland will direct from a script he wrote. [Variety]

As "Mad Men" continues dazzle audiences on a weekly basis, Matthew Weiner continues to add to his planned feature directorial debut, "You Are Here." The writer-director has now added another thesp in Joel Gretsch ("The 4400") who'll play the caring husband of Amy Poehler's character. The story follows childhood best friends (Owen Wilson, Zach Galifianakis) who go on a road trip after the latter inherits millions after the death of his estranged father. Zach Galifianakis and Poehler play siblings with actress/model Laura Ramsey also co-starring. [Variety]

Ryan Murphy protégé Brad Buecker — an co-executive producer of "Glee" and "American Horror Story" — will take the helm of the musical "Time After Time" for Lionsgate and Summit. Playing out in the style of a John Hughes movie, the feature will follow a contemporary teenage girl who finds herself trapped in the '80s as the best friend of her mother. A twisted "Freaky Friday"? Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Brian Yorley is currently scripting the Anonymous Content-backed project. [Deadline]
