Got a Tip?

Revolving Door On ‘The Equalizer’ Continues As Rupert Wyatt Exits The Film

null…and another one bites the dust. Granted, it all seemed pretty tentative anyway, but Sony will have to keep looking for a director to tackle their big screen take on “The Equalizer” as Rupert Wyatt has exited the picture.

A couple weeks back he was first linked to the project, but even his dance card seemed pretty full. Wyatt is slated to helm the AMC pilot “Turn” and “Birdsong,” his dream WWI project which he has been developing for years is building steam as well, recently nabbing Nicholas Hoult in the lead. And indeed, if Sony really want to nail a 2014 release for “The Equalizer” it didn’t seem in the stars for Wyatt to make it happen. He joins Nicolas Winding Refn and Paul Haggis in future trivia notes for directors who toyed with taking it on. Denzel Washington is set to lead the film as far as we know.

So we’ll throw it you: any ideas for who can take on the movie that will tell the the story of a freelance “fixer” who works for the mysterious The Company? Can this movie actually be any good? We’re encouraged by the talent it is attracting, but less encouraged that no one seems to be able to stick. We’ll see. [Deadline]
