‘The Lost Boys,’ ‘Schimgadoon!’ & Hollywood Dominate The 2026 Tony Awards Nominations [Full List]

Once again, Hollywood and Hollywood-centric IP are dominating Broadway. The nominees for the 2026 Tony Awards were announced this morning, and “The Lost Boys,” a musical inspired by the 1987 film, and “Schmigadoon!,” a musical adaptation of the Apple TV series, led all nominees with 12 each, including Best Musical. The revival of “Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman” led all nominated plays with nine nominations, including Best Revival of a Play and Nathan Lane in the Actor in a Leading Role in a Play category.

Among other major contenders, the “Ragtime” revival earned 11 nominations while “Cats: The Jellicle Ball” and “Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show” took nine each.

Best Musical nominations went to “Titanique,” “Schmigadoon!,” “The Lost Boys” and “Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York).” The Best Play nominees are “The Balusters” (David Lindsay-Abaire), “Giant” (Mark Rosenblatt), “Liberation” (Bess Wohl), and “Little Bear Ridge Road” (Samuel D. Hunter). Revival of a Play nominees are “Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman,” “Becky Shaw” (Gina Gionfriddo), “Every Brilliant Thing” (Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe), “Fallen Angels,” and “Oedipus” (Robert Icke). Revival of a Musical honorees are “Cats: The Jellicle Ball,” “Ragtime,” and “Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show.”

Beyond Lane, the cavalcade of famous film and television actors earned nominations across numerous categories features Rose Byrne (“Fallen Angels”), Carrie Coon (“Bug”), Leslie Manville (“Oedipus”), Stephanie Hsu (“The Rocky Horror Show”), John Lithgow (“Giant”), Daniel Radcliffe (“Every Brilliant Thing”), Mark Strong (“Oedipus”), Luke Evans (“The Rocky Horror Show”), Christopher Abbott (“Death of a Salesman”), and Alden Ehrenriech (“Becky Shaw”). Notably, two former “Saturday Night Live” castmates, Rachel Dratch and Ana Gasteyer, are nominated in the same category, Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical, for “The Rocky Horror Show” and “Schmigadoon!” respectively.

Both “Cats: The Jellicle Ball” and “Titanique,” which earned four nominations, started as off-Broadway runs. Their run to Broadway and Tony recognition will inspire producers for years to come.

Major snubs included the revival of “Chess,” which saw both Lea Michelle and Aaron Tveit overlooked. Adrien Brody, Jon Bernthal, Keanu Reeves, Don Cheadle, Cedric the Entertainer, Taraji P. Henson, and Ayo Edebri were among many snubs in the acting categories.

This year’s Tony Awards will be handed out on June 7 during a ceremony at Radio City Music Hall hosted by Pink.
