'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' Celebration Trailer Teases Ashoka Tano Vs. Darth Maul Showdown

Out of all the things being showcased over the weekend at Star Wars Celebration, “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” is surely at the top of some fans’ waitlists. Though mainstream audiences stick to the movies, ‘Clone Wars’ has amassed a loyal following since Disney’s abrupt cancellation in 2013, and the announcement of the show’s return in 2018. The show, created by Dave Filoni who went on to create “Star Wars Rebels,” and is largely considered the heir apparent having worked directly under George Lucas, has spent its purgatory being available on Netflix, where it was seen as a binge-worthy watch for years. With the streaming wars ramping up, though, ‘Clone Wars’ left Netflix on Thursday…the same day Disney announced its streaming details.

Since the 2018 Comic-Con announcement and trailer for the show’s revival, news has been mum about any further details. That trailer assured the return of Ashoka Tano, who left the Jedi Order just as the series was ending in 2013. Fans have been eagerly awaiting this weekend’s sneak peek. The new season will be a part of Disney+ catalog of exclusive content. Now that we know Disney will launch its streaming channel on November 12, the hype for 12 new episodes of ‘Clone Wars’ is reignited.

The show will surely be a major draw for the streaming site. Disney needs to show that Disney+ will be worth another subscription bill if they want to immediately compete with Netflix, Apple, Hulu, Amazon, and whoever else calls the other blinds. If fans find this weekends sneak peek disappointing, they’ll surely make it known. It seems like it’ll be difficult to go wrong with Filoni in charge, though. Fans have immense trust in Filoni, who has been at the head of the ‘Clone Wars’ series since its start. If ‘Clone Wars’ gains enough momentum heading into the Disney+ launch, it could be one of the biggest draws to the streaming site.
