'The Crown' Season 3 Teaser: Netflix's Emmy-Winning Series Returns With Olivia Colman Leading The New Cast In November

The inherent problem with a TV show that tells the true story of someone’s life that spans from early adulthood until old age is the fact that actors don’t age at a superhuman rate. So, unless you want to use loads of prosthetics, you can’t keep the same cast to tell the entire decades-long story. You end up in the position that Netflix’sThe Crown” found itself in going into Season 3 and you bring in a whole new cast.

After winning multiple Emmys for Seasons 1 and 2, the new cast of the “Crown” has a lot of pressure to keep the streak going. Luckily, it would appear that Netflix has brought in some hugely talented folks to continue where actors like Claire Foy, Matt Smith, Vanessa Kirby, and others left off. Leading the way is none other than recent Oscar winner Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II. No offense to Foy, who won all sorts of awards for her portrayal as the Queen in the two previous seasons, but Colman might just be the best actor that has ever worked on the series to date.

Netflix has announced that fans of the series will be able to see how the new cast does in telling the true story of Queen Elizabeth during the years of 1964 to 1977 when “The Crown” returns for Season 3 on November 17.

The cast for Season 3 includes Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, Tobias Menzies as Prince Phillip, Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Ben Daniels as Tony Armstrong-Jones, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, Marion Bailey as The Queen Mother, and Jason Watkins as Prime Minister Harold Wilson.

As mentioned, the new season of “The Crown” will arrive on Netflix on November 17.
