‘The Hangover 4’: Bradley Cooper Says He Would Return To The Comedy Franchise In An “Instant”

Gone are the days of Bradley Cooper acting in a bunch of films over the course of the year. No comedies. No rom-coms. No action films. Outside of his semi-occasional voice work as Rocket Racoon for Marvel Studios, Cooper seems perfectly content with starring in his own films where he directs. And if “Maestro” is another awards season hit like “A Star is Born,” then you better believe that trend will continue. Well, unless a new ‘Hangover’ film becomes a reality.

Speaking on The New Yorker Radio Hour podcast, while promoting the release of the aforementioned “Maestro,” Bradley Cooper talked about his willingness to jump into the world of “The Hangover” franchise if the opportunity presented itself. For those who don’t remember, towards the beginning of his career, Cooper starred in three ‘Hangover’ films, alongside Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms, each of which was directed by Todd Phillips. While the first two were relatively popular, the third film was definitely not a favorite of fans nor critics. So a fourth seems unlikely. But if it does happen, Cooper will sign on.

“I would probably do ‘Hangover 4’ in an instant,” Cooper said. “Just because I love Todd, I love Zach, I love Ed so much, I probably would.”

Now, the likelihood of a new ‘Hangover’ film actually happening seems very slim. In fact, Cooper said the idea of Phillips returning to the world of raunchy R-rated comedy is far-fetched, to say the least.

“I don’t think Todd is ever going to do that,” he said.

So, perhaps it would appear Cooper is making a bit of a false promise. While he may actually be interested in doing another ‘Hangover’ film, in theory, Cooper knows it won’t actually happen and therefore won’t ever be called on to make it a reality. So, he can continue to make his award-winning dramas.

And boy, oh boy, those award-winning dramas seem to be paying off for the actor. As mentioned, “Maestro” seems poised to follow in the footsteps of “A Star is Born” to become a huge awards-season favorite.

“Maestro” is in limited theaters now and will debut on Netflix on December 20.
