You may not be aware, but “The Piano Lesson” is a family affair. The adaptation of the famed August Wilson play not only stars John David Washington but was directed by his brother, Malcolm Washington, and produced by his sister, Katia Washington, and his father, Denzel Washington. Yes, that Denzel Washington.
While the Telluride Film Festival world premiere is a showcase for Supporting Actress contender Danielle Deadwyler, the artistic contributions to the Netflix film are many. In a new video exclusive provided to The Playlist, Washington highlights the work of production Designer David J. Bomba, cinematographer Mike Gioulakis, costume designer Francine Jamison-Tanchuck, composer Alexandre Desplat, and the legendary Erykah Badu. You can watch the detailed behind-the-scenes feature embedded in this post.
