Filmmaker Thomas Vinterberg Reteams With Mads Mikkelsen For New Film About Drunk Teachers

There are probably a ton of school-aged kids today that wish their teachers were drunk all the time. Wouldn’t class and school, in general, be easier if your instructors had a constant buzz? Well, this is the idea that is set to be explored in the upcoming film from director Thomas Vinterberg and his star Mads Mikkelsen.

According to Screen Daily, Vinterberg is set to direct the film titled “Druk” (international title will come later), which is going to see the filmmaker team up with his co-writer Tobias Lindholm. Lindholm and Vinterberg have worked together on a few films already, including “Submarino,” “The Hunt,” and “The Commune.”

“Druk” tells the story of a group of teachers that decide to experiment with the idea of being constantly drunk during the workday. Not necessarily black-out drunk, but with a mild intoxication that, in theory, would help their day go better. Of course, as you might expect, the experiment has drastic effects on some of the teachers.

Mikkelsen, who also worked with Vinterberg and Lindholm on the film, “The Hunt,” is set to star and will be joined by actor Magnus Millang. Millang previously worked with Vinterberg on films “Kursk” (retitled “The Command” internationally) and “The Commune.” Also joining the cast are Maria Bonnevie and Helene Reingaard Neumann.
