Tom Cruise Shares Footage Breaking His Ankle On 'Mission: Impossible'

Tom Cruise‘s dedication to doing his own stunts makes insurance people nervous. Hanging off skyscrapers and clinging to planes is no big deal, and the same goes for leaping between buildings. However, Cruise isn’t indestructible and last summer, production shut down on “Mission: Impossible — Fallout” when the actor broke his ankle after a stunt went very, very wrong. There was lots of second hand footage floating around at the time, but now you can watch it all in unfold from the official footage. And it’s totally gross.

Cruise and his castmates swung by “The Graham Norton Show,” where the actor showed his injury from three different angles, including a close-up. It’s so stomach churning, Simon Pegg still hasn’t watched it. Cruise shares that he was supposed to miss the jump — that was always the plan — but he fudged the landing, and his foot bent in a direction it shouldn’t. But ever the trooper, Cruise powered through the take, and finished limping off camera. Also, that footage? It’s going to be in the movie.

“Mission: Impossible — Fallout” opens on July 27th. There should be a trailer soon, but maybe this is all you need to see.
