Unlike most prestige television, HBO Max is wasting no time capitalizing on the momentum behind “The Pitt.” The streamer has released the first teaser and first-look images for season three of the Emmy-winning medical drama, confirming that Noah Wyle and the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center team will return in January 2027.
The teaser brings Wyle back as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, once again navigating the relentless pressure facing the staff of Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. Created by R. Scott Gemmill, the series examines the challenges confronting American healthcare workers through the experiences of those operating on the front lines of a modern Pittsburgh hospital.
Season three will also feature the return of Patrick Ball as Dr. Langdon, Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans, Fiona Dourif as Dr. McKay, Taylor Dearden as Dr. King, Isa Briones as Dr. Santos, Gerran Howell as Dr. Whitaker, Shabana Azeez as Javadi, Ayesha Harris as Dr. Ellis, Sepideh Moafi as Dr. Al-Hashimi, and Shawn Hatosy as Dr. Abbot.
The teaser arrives one day after seven additional recurring and guest cast members were announced for the new season: Stephen Chang, Barry Clifton, Chris Diamantopoulos, Lawrence Kao, Brent Sexton, JB Tadena, and Hannah Ware. Details about their characters remain under wraps.
Produced by John Wells Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, “The Pitt” has quickly become one of HBO Max’s signature dramas. Its second season earned 26 Emmy nominations, making the streamer another major awards contender and giving it plenty of incentive to keep the show on its unusually swift annual schedule.
Gemmill executive produces alongside Wyle, John Wells, Michael Hissrich, Erin Jontow, Joe Sachs, Simran Baidwan, and Eli Attie. “The Pitt” returns for its third season in January 2027 on HBO Max. Watch the teaser below.
