Tony Revolori Is Playing Flash Thompson In 'Spider-Man: Homecoming,' Vulture Confirmed As The Villain

It was a study of contrasts yesterday at San Diego Comic Con, with Warner Bros. dropping everything they showed in Hall H online, while Marvel — who didn’t need to win over fanboy approval — only released the Doctor Strange” trailer to the world, while keeping the other goodies they showed under wraps for now. But that doesn’t mean there wasn’t a lot to talk about. Marvel has plenty on their slate, including next summer’s already highly anticipated “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

In Hall H on Saturday, some of the roles that various cast members would be playing in the Jon Watts-directed movie were revealed. Zendaya has been lined up as Michelle, Laura Harrier plays Liz, and Jacob Batalon plays Ned, in what is being called “The Breakfast Club“-style retinue around Tom Holland‘s Peter Parker. But the most interesting revelation is that “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and “Dope” star Tony Revolori is playing Flash Thompson.

“I’m [Peter Parker’s] bully and I don’t know how cool he is, but when we call cut, I’m just like, ‘Ah! You’re so cool,’” Revolori said.

Flash hasn’t really been utilized in the Spider-Man films to date, used fleetingly by Marc Webb in “The Amazing Spider-Man,” with Chris Zylka playing the part. But it seems he will have a greater presence in Marvel’s iteration.

Meanwhile, it was also confirmed that Vulture would be the villain of the picture, but for now, who is playing the part is a secret (though it’s widely expected to be Michael Keaton).

“Vulture’s the first real villain in the Spider-Man comics,” Watts said. “He’s in the second issue. He’s one of the classics from the best rogues’ gallery out there, and we’ve never seen him, he’s never been brought to life.”

Sam Raimi almost did when he was putting together “Spider-Man 4” back in the day, but that movie was kiboshed and the franchise rebooted…twice. To get a taste Spider-Man and Vulture, you can check out the concept art and we’ll see what it looks like in action when ‘Homecoming’ opens on July 7, 2017. [EW]
