U.K. Trailer For Abbas Kiarostami's 'Certified Copy' Appears

One of the best-liked pictures of the Cannes Film Festival this year was Abbas Kiarostami’s “Certified Copy”; most critics, including our man there, loved the Tuscan-set drama, the great Iranian filmmaker’s first outside his birthplace, and it picked up a Best Actress award for Juliette Binoche on the Croisette. We called it “Funny and moving, intellectually absorbing and emotionally rich,” and suggested that it might be the director’s most accessible work to date.

We had a very brief, cryptic look at a teaser before the festival, but now The Guardian has a full trailer, courtesy of UK distributor Artificial Eye, and it looks terrific. The “Before Sunrise”/”Before Sunset” comparisons that have been rife are clearly evident, but this looks very much like its own beast, and we can’t wait. It hits the U.K on September 3rd, with a yet-to-be-announced release date from IFC Films for the States coming later in the year. There’s no embed yet, so head over to The Guardian to check it out.
