Watch: Feel The Rush In New Trailer For Steven Soderbergh's Starz Series 'The Girlfriend Experience'

The Girlfriend ExperienceEver intrigued about viewer experience, the Steven Soderbergh-produced series inspired by his feature, "The Girlfriend Experience," is shaking things up in some interesting ways. Firstly, the drama series will be served out in 30-minute episodes, which is uncommon for shows in the genre. Secondly, the entire series will be available on Starz Play and Starz On Demand right from the start, or week by week on cable. It’s another sign that networks are starting to figure out ways to respond to the Netflix model. But what is the show all about?

Well, it stars Riley KeoughMary Lynn RajskubPaul Sparks, and Kate Lyn Sheil, and follows a young law student who is introduced into the world of high end sex work. It’s the kind of subject matter that seems poised for controversy, but the network is ready. 

"This is a view into the world of primarily one woman’s experience," Starz CEO Chris Albrecht told Deadline. "…I think the series speaks for itself. I think the intention from the beginning was to take a non-editorialized look at what could be a controversial subject and just present it out there for the audience to view and make their own choices. And, in the middle of it is great filmmaking and in my mind, an extraordinary, astonishing, brave performance by this young actress."

The entire run of "The Girlfriend Experience" will screen at Sundance, and it hits Starz on April 10th.
