null

Well, it’s that time of year again. And no, we’re not referring to snow flurries or hot cocoa, but the ongoing lists, ranks and various awards qualifications that roll out every December. As listmaking in general tends to be reductive (let alone year-centric surveys), the actual moving images—from films both big and small, blockbuster and arthouse—tend to be overlooked or forgotten. But luckily, some folks with time on their hands and video editing skills cut together what it was like to see movies in 2013.

Over the weekend, we saw one 7-minute tribute land online, and this morning brings an 8-minute look back from the folks at JoBlo. The supercut starts off with a pretty clever riff on the opening of “Gravity” that declares: “Life Without Movies Is Impossible.” From there, the video reel goes headfirst into the movies mainstream and indie, funny and dramatic and everything in between that crossed your path this year. Tell your boss you have a conference call, and watch below.
