While I wasn’t totally blown away by "The Martian" (our review), it’s the best front-to-back movie Ridley Scott has made in nearly a decade, and it’s a showcase for Matt Damon who proves his charm alone can power an entire movie. And with just a week to go before liftoff, a few more teases for the blockbuster have arrived to get you ready for orbit.
As you already know, this star-laden picture — which also features Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Michael Peña, Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan, Aksel Hennie, Donald Glover, Mackenzie Davis, and Chiwetel Ejiofor — tells the story of Mark Watney, an astronaut who is left behind on Mars, and has to figure out how to survive until a rescue mission reaches him. And as you’ll see in the clip below, he uses the power of botany to devise a way to grow food and collect water to keep him healthy, hydrated and alive.
The Ares 3 mission guide has also been revealed, providing some background on the crew Watney works with before it all goes bad, with a few TV spots to round things out. "The Martian" opens on October 2nd.
