'The World Before Your Feet' Exclusive Trailer: Doc Shows One Man's Fascinating Journey Across Every Street In NYC

No matter what the subject matter might be, the best documentaries always seem to feature fascinating people. There’s, perhaps, no better example of this than “The World Before Your Feet.” This new documentary, which made quite a splash at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, takes what could be one of the most boring premises in history and makes it completely enjoyable and beautiful, thanks to the person at the center.

There’s no way around it, “The World Before Your Feet” is about a man walking. But to just reduce the film to its most basic premise is to ignore everything that makes the film great. Thanks to the new trailer, which we are proud to exclusively bring our readers, you can see that “The World Before Your Feet” is not a documentary about a guy walking the streets of New York City. Instead, it’s more about what drives a man, who is clearly intelligent and outgoing, to walk over 8,000 miles, exploring every street and path in the five boroughs of NYC, over the course of years to discover his own hometown.

We were lucky enough to screen “The World Before Your Feet” at SXSW this year and left loving director Jeremy Workman’s film. Our review called the documentary “a genuinely pleasant film that revels in the pleasure of simply wandering this strange, beautiful world we live in.” Joining Workman in bringing the film to the big screen is none other than executive producer Jesse Eisenberg.

“The World Before Your Feet” will be released in New York City on November 21 and Los Angeles on November 23.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

There are 8,000 miles of sidewalks, paths and roads in New York City and for the past six years Matt Green has been walking them all–every street, block, pedestrian overpass and park lane. A five borough journey that stretches from the barbershops of Harlem to 9/11 murals in Staten Island with Matt sharing an encyclopedia of New York history along the way. Executive-produced by Jesse Eisenberg.
